Pyramid of Success

John Wooden

Block 1: Industriousness

"In plain and simple english this means hard work. Very hard work. There is no substitute for very hard work when it comes to success."

What this is telling us is that nothing beats hard work and it is hard work that can beat anything. industriousness is the work done with heart, love, and and endless perseverance, this industriousness gets you jobs you want, a successful path for your future, and joy. When people dont like what they do for a living they get depressed and stressed and can possibly shorten ones life but with a little bit of heart in your work you will be proud of what you accomplish to get to where you want to be. an example would be a someone working 12 hours a day and loving there job, and every minute of that job is filled with hard work and perseverance, so in the end the person is happy.

Block 2: Enthusiasm

"it is the engine that powers all blocks of the pyramid. it is why i choose industriousness and enthusiasm as the cornerstones of my pyramid of success. it is where everything begins."

what this is saying is that the origin of success would be enthusiasm because most of the key components of success deal with industriousness and enthusiasm and if either are missing in your work then you will not become successful or happy in your success. enthusiasm brings happiness and reality into work, it will help encourage you to work harder and become the very best at what you do. With a little bit of practice and enthusiasm you can accomplish almost anything. An example of enthusiasm is a child ready to go to school and the student walks out of his house enthusiastic about the quiz the student will take instead of being bummed out, the child has a better chance of passing that quiz than the students that aren't enthusiastic.

Block 3: Friendship

"Comes from mutual esteem, respect and devotion. Like marriage it must not be taken for granted but requires a joint effort."

Friendship is like a bond between two beings that inputs trust, reliability, and dedication in that bond. A friendship is what companies use to keep themselves successful because they rely on allies to get the word about their company out and so those relationships are what keeps a lot of things going. Friendships are extremely important because just having a friend brings a lot of benefits to you, such as lending, helping physically, emotionally helping, and just helping you build character. Friendship is like the sun and the plants, they get along well and the sun helps the plant to grow and so that the plants may help others, its a beautiful relationship that could be considered a friendship.

Block 4: Loyalty

"To yourself and to all those depending on you. Keep your self-respect."

Loyalty is friendship on a whole other level, loyalty is staying even when the odds are against you, loyalty is to be there when they need you, loyalty is sheer will to stay with those you want to stay with.

Block 5: Cooperation

"with all levels of your co-workers. Listen if you want to be heard. Be interested in finding the best way, not having your own way."

Cooperation is a combination of determination and willingness, cooperation can accomplish many things, and not just small things, but really big things like skyscrapers. Cooperation leads to partners and friendships and many accomplishments, cooperation is to work together to achieve something great and is also the collaboration of many people or animals to get there works worth. An example of cooperation is a relationship with two partners willing to make it work and so their cooperation will get them far in life while still having each other.

Block 6: Ambition

for noble goals

Ambition is the best motivation a human can have, and is the best goal setter out there. ambition helps us by allowing us to follow what we chose to follow, it is almost the foundation but works almost like it. with ambition many things can be accomplished and only what you would want to accomplish in order to achieve your goal. ambition is a feeling that you get when you know what you are looking for, it is that subtle yet fierce energy for what you think you will possibly achieve. An example of ambition is someone going out to sea to find the greatest treasure known to man and he is determined to find it in order to become king of the pirates and nothing will get in their way.

Block 7: Self-Control

"practice self-discipline and keep emotions under control. Good judgmental and common sense are essential."

Both 8: Alertness

"be observing constantly. Stay open-minded. Be eager to learn and improve."

Block 9: Initiative

"Cultivate the ability to make decisions and think alone. Do not be afraid of failure, but learn from it."
